Send with Hivenet interface showing a 4 GB transfer limit and optional password protection
June 17, 2025

Send big files without the big footprint

Ever tried sending a 3.5 GB video only to hit a paywall? Or got blocked because you have already used your free transfers for the month? Most file-sharing services feel generous until the limits get in the way.

Send is Hivenet’s file-transfer service

Send with Hivenet lets you share up to 4 GB per transfer, up to ten times each month, without creating a full Hivenet account. Add up to 50 files, choose optional password protection, and share the link. Every transfer expires after seven days.

Why use Send?

  • Free transfers with clear limits. The free plan includes up to ten transfers per month, with a maximum of 4 GB and 50 files in each transfer. See the current Send plan limits.
  • Unlimited transfers with a paid plan. Every paid Hivenet plan includes unlimited Send transfers. The 4 GB size limit and seven-day expiry still apply.
  • Encrypted before upload. Send encrypts each file in your browser before it leaves your device. The encrypted file is split into chunks and stored across the Hivenet network. Learn how Send encrypts transfers.
  • Private by design. Hivenet does not collect or store file names, file contents, user messages, or recipient information. It keeps the temporary data needed to deliver and expire the transfer, as described in the privacy and retention guide.
  • Built on distributed infrastructure. Send uses Hivenet’s distributed cloud instead of relying only on centralized data centers. Its environmental impact depends on transfer size, expiry, usage frequency, and the comparison being made. Read Hivenet’s sustainability methodology and scope.

How it works under the hood

When you create a transfer, Send encrypts your files in the browser and splits them into smaller chunks before upload. Those chunks are stored separately across the Hivenet network. The recipient’s browser uses the transfer link to retrieve, decrypt, and reassemble the files. The encrypted chunks remain available for seven days, then the transfer expires.

Give it a try

Need to share a large project file, a batch of high-resolution photos, or your latest video edit? Send gives you a simple way to deliver it without requiring the recipient to create an account.
