hiveDisk 1.15: New plans, account page, and rewards for your contribution

We're thrilled to lift the curtain on hiveDisk 1.15, a pivotal release that's set to redefine your cloud storage experience. This isn't just another update; it's a quantum leap forward, marking a new chapter in Hive's journey to create a secure, sustainable cloud for all.

1.15 general updates

First off, we're rolling out the red carpet for our MacOS users with native Finder integration. Now, your hiveDisk is as much a part of your Mac as your Photos or Documents folder. It's your digital world, seamlessly integrated. No more switching between windows or dealing with clunky interfaces. We've been asked for this feature for a long time, and we're excited to finally deliver it.

For our Windows loyalists, we've supercharged the File Explorer integration. Expect faster uploads and downloads that are as reliable as the sunrise. We've fine-tuned our engine so that your files zip across the digital highway without a hiccup.

We'd never want you to lose your data, and Hive is prepared for all potential scenarios. Thanks to some wizardry in our p2p storage network, lost data is found and fixed faster and more effectively than ever before. It's like having a digital guardian angel watching over your files (and bringing them back safe and well before they are lost in the ether).

And now, for the pièce de résistance, the top of the mountain peak, the... well, you get the idea: we are finally launching our new hiveDisk Plans and web-based account management. We're unveiling a smorgasbord of storage plans, from a free 3GB plan to a whopping 8TB plan. It's a buffet of choices, and you're invited to feast.

Your account page also moves on the Hive homepage. Visit to view and change your current plan, check your pricing history, the storage you're using, your contribution, your GBh (more on that below), and all your contributing devices.

To our early adopters, we say thank you with a gift: all existing users will transition to the free plan, and all the storage you've enjoyed until today is yours for life. Want more? You can always buy extra storage.

And here's the sweetener: when you contribute storage, you will be earning GBh which is essentially the number of gigabytes you contribute to the community per hour per device. The more you give, the less you pay.
